Reverend Jackson Emmanuel Bethel, Sr. was called from labor into his reward on Friday morning, July 21, 2023 in Edgefield, SC at Edgefield County hospital surrounded by family. He was born on November 3, 1937 the son of his proud parents the late Deacon Jackson and Bertha Grubbs Bethel.
He received his education from Barnwell County Public Schools in South Carolina and attended Ministerial school in the late 90’s at South Florida Bible Institute.
He was united in holy matrimony for 61 years to Bessie Mae Abner Bethel until her death. Later, he married Alma Williams-Bethel
He was a humble hardworking man whom loved his family, church family and all he had the privilege of meeting.
He retired as the owner and operator of JEB Lawn /Landscaping of Riviera Beach, Fla. After over 20 years.
At an early age He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served in all capacities of the church; ordained deacon, licensed minister in 1991 and ordained Reverend in 1992. In later years, He was appointed as the assistant Pastor at the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Fla.
After hearing the voice of the Lord he relocated to Trenton, South Carolina and began fellowship with the Hart Spring Baptist Church. He were installed as Pastor and served faithfully for 14 years.
He was preceded to death by his parents (Jackson and Bertha Jackson), his brother (Roy Bethel) and two sisters (Corine Jenkins and Alice Burton.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife whom he loved dearly, Alma Williams Bethel, his daughter, Jennifer Bethel of Florida. Extended daughters, Carolyn (Frank) Nicholson of Johnston, SC; Cheryl (Jonah) Samuels of Edgefield SC; and Patricia (Joseph) Moss of Aiken, SC. His sons: Jackson E. Bethel, II and Jared E (Cherice) Bethel of Trenton, SC, and Jeffery E.(Yvonne)Bethel of Saluda, SC. Extended sons, George (Christine) Williams, Reverend Henry (Vernell) Williams, and Johnathan (Stephanie) Williams of Johnston, SC; and Reverend Ellis (Avis) Williams. Eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a host of extended grands, aunts, uncles, nieces ,nephews, families and friends.
The family is receiving friends at the home 205 Adams Road, Edgefield, SC.
