Mr. Robert Lee Graham
Richmond, VA: Mr. Robert Lee Graham affectionately known as “Pet” by his loved ones, was the son of the late Robert and Ora Bell Tillman Graham. He was born in Saluda, South Carolina on December 15, 1939. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2022 in Richmond, VA .
Robert received his core education in the public schools of Saluda County. It was during this time he decided to pursue a career in construction and relocated to Washington, DC.
Robert was employed throughout several companies in the Richmond, VA and Washington, DC area where he served dutifully for 50+ years before he retired. His greatest passion was going to work every day, no matter what type of weather was sent his way, he was still there and on time. After his retirement, one of his sayings was “If I could still work, I would. I rather be working then sitting at home.” For all who knew him could tell you that he was an extremely hard worker and a great provider for his family.
Robert was a loving Father and Grandfather. He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren throughout their lives. He loved having conversations with them about his younger days. He also, enjoyed watching his western shows with the grandchildren and always making them feel special by bringing them lots of goodies and snacks.
Robert always had a heart for sharing and caring for others and never complained. He was always very mild, non-judgmental, full of laughter and happy-go-lucky guy. He loved sitting on the porch, taking daily walks and hanging out with the old school buddies under the tree. He was extremely generous and would always reach in his pocket to give anyone a couple of dollars regardless of how he was treated. He also loved paying people for anything they did to help him along the way.
Robert was truly blessed to have shared his last fellowship with his family in Richmond, Virginia the last weekend in April. He had 50+ family members to travel from Philadelphia, New York, Washington, DC, Maryland, and South Carolina to honor him. He had not seen some of them in many, many years. God truly blessed those who attended this beautiful occasion with him to create a forever memory in their hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his grandson George Altari Smith; brothers, A.B., Curtis and Thomas Graham; sisters, Annie Ruth Clarke, Ethel Clyde Daniels and Georgia Clarke Mobley.
Robert leaves to mourn and cherish his memories one daughter; Cathy Pixley, Johnston, SC, four sons; Theodore (Stephanie) Minor Sr., Hyattsville, MD, Randy (Sharee) Stevens, Columbia, SC; Leon Minor, Sr., Washington, DC, Willie Williams Sr., Richmond, VA, sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, James (Van Jewell) Graham, Landover, MD; one sister Geraldine Graham, Philadelphia, PA; a devoted loving best friend Doris (Dot) Minor and host of loving nephews, nieces, and friends.
