Mrs. Ruth Dozier Watson

Saluda, SC:  Mrs. Ruth Dozier Watson, 82, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017, in the Saluda Nursing Center.

She was born in Saluda, South Carolina, daughter of the late Mamie Dozier and the late George Werts and was reared in the home of the late Romulus and Annie Johnson Dozier.  She was a member of the Rock Hill Baptist  Church and the Rock Hill Burial Aide Society and also a member of Woman's Home Aide Society #126.  During Ruth's working life she worked at Milliken Plant of Saluda, retired from Saluda Nursing Center, janitoral  for DMV and a Caregiver.

She was married to Willie James Watson who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by, stepchildren, Vivian Watson and Edward Smith; siblings, Jannie Merchant, Jannie Sampson, Eddie Werts, Oscar Long, Zaria Werts Duran and Barbara Long Frazier.

Leaving to honor and cherish her precious memories; children, Lisa A. Watson and Wendell K. Watson both of Saluda, SC; step-children, Patricia Smith, Frances Harling and Willie Smith all of Saluda, SC: twelve grandchildren, brother, Michael Werts of Aiken, SC;  nine great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews raised in the home, Ruth Williams, Robert Long, Antoinette Long, Jerry Long and Oscar Long; Romulus and Annie Dozier Children who she was raised with; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Homegoing Celebration and burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Rock Hill Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Reverend Herbert Martin.  The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. 

Viewing will be 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
