Seymour Mason
We celebrate and honor the life of Seymour Mason, born October 8, 1932 in Saluda, South Carolina. He was the youngest of 11 children born to Amy Daniel Mason and Ned Mason. Seymour departed this life on April 3, 2022 at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood, SC.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florine S. Mason, and siblings Johnnie, Carlton, Henry, Marshall, Robert, Ned/June, Susie, Hattie Minick, Eliza Dozier, Naomi Wiggins and stepson, Franklin Morris. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Seymour attended public school in Saluda, SC. He worked various jobs to contribute to the family household.
At an early age, he followed several family members and moved to New York where he met Bernice Nicholson and out of that union a daughter, Linda, was born.
Seymour later met and married the late Florine Mason of Batesburg, SC. They lived first in Jamaica, New York and later relocated back to Seymour’s hometown of Saluda, SC.
Seymour worked at Beth David Cemetery in New York for many years. He retired as a Supervisor. In his later years he truly lived life, remaining active with gardening and selling vegetables along with many projects, and hobbies. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Seymour loved to talk and tell family stories.
Seymour is survived by his daughter, Linda Mason Robinson (Jimmie), Stepdaughter Christine Morris - Bentto, devoted Great granddaughter Keana Morris - Baylor (Kentrell), Grandchildren:
Jimmie R. Robinson II (Victoria), Donnie Williams, Duane Morris, Franklin Holmes, Anthony Holmes (Tamara), and Maurice Holmes, Great grandchildren:
James R. Robinson, Keana Morris - Baylor and many other great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Bible Way of Saluda with burial in Penn Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Jerry Simmons - Officiating and Reverend Charlie S. Daniel, Jr., and Co-Pastor Roselle Chiles assisting. The body will be placed in the church at Noon.
Viewing will be Friday at the funeral home, family viewing 1-2 p.m. and public viewing will be 2-6 p.m.
