Smith Rooster Coleman, Jr.

Saluda, SC: Mr. Smith (Rooster) Coleman, Jr. 85, the widower of Myrtle Mae Etheredge Coleman entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Saluda Nursing Center.

He was born April 28, 1939, son of the late Smith Coleman, Sr. and the late Donnie Blocker Coleman. He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina. At an early age, he joined Rock Hill Baptist Church and he was a member of Sons of Aide. He worked many years at S C Highway Department - Saluda and later he was employed by Gentry's Poultry. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Johnny Coleman, Eliza Mae Etheredge, Nancy Howard, Bertha Bruno, Gladys Coleman, Martha Ann Perry, Nora Bell Cyrus, Chester Bell Garvin and Ruby Lee Coleman.

He leaves to cherish his memory; sons, Charles, Coleman, Willie James (Minnie) Lee Coleman, Sherman Coleman and Robert Coleman all of Saluda, SC; daughters, Annie Ruth (Virgil) Mitchell of Saluda, SC, Lisa (Gregory) Tolbert of Greenwood, SC and Stacie Coleman of Batesburg, SC;twenty-five grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one brother, J C Coleman of Saluda, SC; sister-inn-law, Pauline Stevenson of Waterbury, CT; brother-in-law, Scencer Padgett of Waterbury, CT; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

The family is at the home of his daughter Annie Ruth and Virgil Mitchell, 1046 Will Ouzts Road, Saluda, SC.
