Tommie Lee Holloway,
Tommie Lee Holloway was born on October 11, 1939, in Saluda, SC, to Zonnie and Mattie Holloway - the youngest of their 11 children. Tom attended Saluda County Public Schools, graduating from Riverside High School in 1958. He was a lifelong member of Rock Hill Baptist Church - the family church.
Tom met the love of his life, Martha Ray Bosket, in 1957, and married her shortly after graduation. To that union, two sons were born: Tommy and Randy Holloway. Martha transitioned on December 19, 1973, leaving Tom to raise the two young boys, on his own, as a 34 year old widower. He never remarried. He was blessed to have a special friend, Evelyn Young, for more than 40 years.
Tom moved to 3706 Ely Place, SE, Washington, DC, in 1962, and lived there until his sudden illness in October. He Retired as a District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Officer.
Tom enjoyed being a sharp dresser, driving Cadillacs, smoking cigarettes, reading, and keeping up with his favorite teams - The Washington Redskins (Commanders) and The Washington Bullets (Wizards). An avid television watcher, his favorite shows were “Family Feud” and “Sanford & Son”. He had the most beautiful silky straight hair and a bright, bashful smile. His laughter was contagious.
Like his mother and most of his siblings, he loved sweets. He also loved his family and friends. The quietest of the Holloway clan, Tom was often viewed as reclusive. He was actually very funny, friendly and kind.
Tom slipped away, peacefully, on November 11th, at White Oak Adventist Hospital, in Silver Spring, MD. He leaves to treasure his memory, sons: Tommy and Randy (Ramona) Holloway; a grandson, Daniel Lee Rosenboro; great-grandchildren: Donmonjai Terrell, DaVon, Denasya & Donovan Rosenboro; sister, Vera Satterwhite; brother, Hardy Lurk; sister-in-law, Gladys Holloway; lifelong friends: Charlie, Danny & Paul Springs; a special caregiver, Jesstina Lee Foster; a host of nieces & nephews; family and friends.
