Saluda, SC:  Valerie Ann Abney Jones, 69, of 1054 Newberry Highway passed away at her home.

She was born in Saluda, SC, February 24, 1950, daughter of the late Charlie and Carrie Lee Miles Abney. She was preceded in death by siblings, David Miles and Alberta Weaver. She received her education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina where she graduated from Riverside High School in 1968.

At an early age, she joined the Mt. Enon Baptist Church.  Her work history began with Greenwood Mills (Sloan Plant) where she worked for over 30 years and he last employment was with Amick Farms until her health failed.

She leaves to honor and cherish her precious memory; daughter, Shantai Jones of the home; three grandchildren, Ryan Edwards, Zylah Jones Deshaun Jones all of the home; brother, Ira Abney of Columbia, SC; sisters, Frankie (Arthur) Williams of Batesburg, SC, Minister Darline (Heyward) Williams of Aiken, SC and Lesa Lindsey of Irmo, SC; brother-in-law, Antley Weaver of Saluda, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Miles of Greenwood, SC;  two uncles, James Myers and Samuel Abney both of Saluda, SC; two aunts, Annette (Theodore) Cherry of Jacksonville, NC and Pearl Abney of Brooklyn, NY; two special friends, Dolly Wilson and Mary Miller both of Saluda, SC;  and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives who will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Reverend Donnie Byrd and others. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church at Noon.

Public viewing will be 1-8 pm Thursday, 10/24/19 at the funeral home.
