Veola Lorine Barnes Turner
Ridge Spring, SC: Veola Lorine Barnes Turner entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 20, 2021 in The Place at Pepper Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Aiken, SC.
Her journey began October 19, 1925, in Saluda County, SC, she was the third child of twelve children born to the late David, Sr. and Ella Mae Lott Barnes.
She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School of Saluda and later attended Bettis Academy in Trenton, SC.
At an early age, she joined the Poplar Branch Baptist Church where she served faithful until her marriage to Willie James Turner who preceded her in death and to this union one child was born. After her marriage, she became a faithful member of Rock Hill Baptist Church where she sang in Rock Hill Musical Choir, a Deaconess, President of Pulpit Aide, Missionary and Senior Choir; other affiliations, WHAS #113, Satterwhite-Brown Order of Eastern Stars, Life Member of the NAACP and Mt. Alpha Society. She was a housewife, a cook and a baker.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; siblings, Lewis M. Barnes, Alfonza Barnes, Eugene Barnes, Solomon Barnes, John Otis Barnes, Baby Girl Barnes and Annie Barnes Gibson and son-in-law, Walter (Pete) Mobley.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memory; devoted daughter, Ruby Jean Turner Mobley of Ridge Spring, SC; devoted grandson, Juan (Paula) Mobley of Charlotte, NC; three granddaughters whom she adored, Riley, Reagan and Blake Ella Mobley all of Charlotte, (Like a daughter), Patrice (Tim) Harris of Monetta, SC; NC; sisters, Josephine (Reverend Raymond) Adams and Carrie (Edward) Bates both of Saluda, SC; brothers, David (Jessie) Barnes, Jr. of Edgefield, SC and James (Thelma) Barnes of Saluda, SC; 5 sisters-in-law, Ruby Barnes of Saluda, SC, Annie R. Jenkins of Aiken, SC, Sallie Lou Vaughn of Springfield, MA, and Rosa Mae Barnes of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, James Gibson of Saluda, SC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.
The family is at their respective homes.
