Willie James Miles

Johnston, SC:  Deacon Willie James Miles of 311 Long Cane Road, the husband of Alma Ruth Bush Miles, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday morning, November 9, 2024.

He was born in Edgefield County, SC, son of the late Johnny and Sarah Williams Miles. He received his education in the  public schools of Edgefield County, South Carolina. At an early age, he joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and after his marriage to Alma Ruth Bush the love of his life, he became a member of Bible Way of Saluda where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School and a served as Superintendent until failing health. He was also a member of the Men's Adie Society. He was a retired Textile Worker.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Johnny Miles, Jr., Thelma Richardson, Cora Padgett and Ida Mae Williams.

He leaves to cherish and honor memory his devoted wife, Alma Ruth Bush Miles of the home; sons, Melvin Keith Miles of Langley, SC, Timothy Don Miles of Graniteville, SC and Darren(Tara) Miles of Lexington, SC; daughters, Evelyn Irene Miles, Johnston, SC, Beverly Cassandra (Bernard) Tinsley and Meriam Faye (Anthony) Holloway both of Aiken, SC; sisters, Gladys (Afonso) Grace of Johnston, SC,  Frances Stafford and Ella Mae Hansen both of Washington, DC; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; four brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
