Saluda, SC: Willie Pearl Minick, born October 27, 1942, in Saluda County, SC, to the late Dan and Emma Lou Coleman-Minick. She transitioned from this life into eternal life on Friday morning, February 21, 2020, at Self Regional Medical Center. Out of 15 children born to Dan and Emma Lou, she is preceded in death by ten siblings: Pete Minick, Dan Minick, Jr., Sophia Lue Stevens, Jerry Minnick, Jimmie Lee Minick, Jessie Minick, and Bernice Miller. She is also preceded in death by a nephew that was raised in the home: Frank Minick.
She was known as the neighborhood babysitter. She enjoyed talking on the phone, listening to her favorite TV shows and listening to Johnston's Radio Station KSX 92.7. She loved coffee, chocolate cake, chocolate candy, and fried fish. Her favorite color was blue.
She leaves to cherish and honor her memory; one daughter, Sherry (Ralph) Lindsay of Greenwood, SC; four grandchildren, Casina, Ladavia, and Rakeem Jones of the home, Tarik (Laneesha) Lindsay of Berlin, NJ; one sister, Shirley (Carl) Pugh of Saluda, SC; one brother, Thomas J. Minnick of Bayshore, NY; an adopted son, Deacon Richard Jones of the home; nieces and nephews raised in the home: Jimmy L. Minick, Jr. Atlanta, GA, Perrene (Rick) Henry, Irmo, SC, Janice (James) Coleman, Saluda, SC, James (Charmaine) Minick, Stanley (Gloria) Minick, and Darryl Minick, all of Columbia, SC and Robert (Cynthia) Minick of Minneapolis, MN; one sister-in-law, Tanya Minnick of Winter Haven, FLA; an aunt, Sophia Lasang of Washington, DC; cousins who were like brothers and sisters, Melvin Minick, Sr. of Saluda, Johnnie Lee Graham and Everlyn Doughtry, both of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
For those who gave Mama her flowers while she could smell them, she knew who you all were, and she loved whatever kind acts you did for her while she could enjoy them. We the family thank you for everything and Mama loved each of you.
A Homegoing Service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend Richard Jackson, and others will be assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
