Willie Rodger Simpkins
Johnston, SC: Willie Rodger Simpkins, 84, of 42 Bantam Lane, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the home of his son, Stanley Simpkins.
He was born in Saluda County, SC, October 1, 1936, son of the late Mack and Susie Bell Smith Simpkins.
He received his education in the public schools of Edgefield County, South Carolina.
At an early age, he joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a faithful member singing in Mt. Calvary Senior Choir and a Trustee. He was also a member Moores Masonic Lodge #68 and Islam Shiners No. 4 of Aiken, SC. He was a textile worker and he retired from Graniteville Mill.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two children, Susie B. Simpkins and Willie James Simpkins' siblings, Mack Simpkins, Jr., Delois Stewart and Otis Simpkins.
Willie will be truly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory; his wife, Corine Dukes Simpkins (65 years) of Edgefield, SC; son, Stanley (Unez) Simpkins (caretaker) of Johnston, SC; daughters, Emma Jean (Claude) Swittenburg of Johnston, SC, Diane Mitchell of Edgefield, SC, Linda Levi and Lorine (Robert) Drumming both of Trenton, SC; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Doris Cooks and Betty Jean Graham both of Aiken, SC; and Vivian Clayton, Patterson, NJ; brothers, David (Irene) Simpkins of Plum Branch, SC and Climus (Emma) Simpkins of Aiken, SC; sisters-in-law, Mary Curry Simpkins and Annie Jones; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Dukes and Bennie Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, 2/15/21 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with pastor Lewis Burt, presiding and Reverend Calvin Robinson - Eulogist and others assisting.
Public viewing will be 1-6 pm Sunday at the funeral Home.
The family thanks each and everyone of you for your many acts of kindness that are being shown to them during the lost of their loved one. The family solicit your continued prayers for God strength and His comforting power. Thank you and may God forever bless all of you.
